Charlie Sheen had a hard time figuring out why everyone wanted him to get help, and was quoted as saying, “I’m having fun, so what?” Switching it up, the Two and a Half Men star has now issued a statement of thanks.
Over the weekend Sheen started an outpatient treatment program in his home — reportedly for security reasons. Finally acknowledging his PR dilemma, Sheen’s rep released a statement from his client:
“I have a lot of work to do to be able to return the support I have received from so many people. I want to say, ‘Thank-you’ to my fellow cast members, the crew of Two and a Half Men, and everyone at CBS and Warner Bros….for their concern and support.
He added, “Like Errol Flynn, who had to put down his sword on occasion, I just want to say, ‘Thank you.’ And to my fans, your good wishes have touched me very much.”
The statement has the tone of someone who is more concerned about repairing his image than admitting that he is a struggling addict. Charlie has taken a few baby steps. We wish him well.
