Fans of The Simpsons will be relieved to know that the popular animated sitcom will be around for another two seasons.
The show, a satirical parody of a working class family featuring Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa and Maggie, debuted in 1989 and is in its twenty-third season.
With 27 Primetime Emmy Awards, their own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and the distinction of being named Time magazine’s 20th century best television series, they continue to have a huge following.
Characters lending their voices to make it all happen are Dan Castellaneta as Homer, Julie Kavner as Marge, Nancy Cartwright as Bart and occasionally Maggie, and Yeardley Smith as Lisa. They all reportedly agreed to a significant pay cut during recent negotiations with the network.
The iconic dysfunctional family landed their own 44-cent postage stamp series in 2009.
Marge rocked her bright blue beehive hair in a three-page pictorial of “implied nudity” in the November 2009 issue of Playboy, the first time that a cartoon character appeared on the cover. Check out some of those naughty poses below:
