Alec Baldwin is in full damage control mode after unleashing a homophobic rant against a Daily Mail reporter who suggested Hilaria Thomas Baldwin was tweeting about summer smoothies during James Gandolfini’s funeral.
Things heated up after Baldwin lashed out with this Twitter slam, “I want all of my followers and beyond to straighten out this f—g little b—, George Stark. I’m gonna find you, George Stark, you toxic little queen, and I’m gonna f— you up.”
He has since deleted his Twitter account and later issued this apology to GLAAD:
“My ill-advised attack on George Stark of the Daily Mail had absolutely nothing to do with issues of anyone’s sexual orientation. My anger was directed at Mr. Stark for blatantly lying and disseminating libelous information about my wife and her conduct at our friend’s funeral service. As someone who fights against homophobia, I apologize.”
“If what I said offended everybody, that obviously wasn’t my intention. I’m not interested in offending anyone. If homosexuality was an issue for me, I would have moved out of New York years ago. I find that laughable.”
Regarding his use of the word “queen,” he offered an interesting rationale. Baldwin said, “I know women that act queeny, I know men that are straight that act queeny. It doesn’t have to be a definite sexual connotation, or a homophobic connotation. To me those people think the rules don’t apply to them. This guy could blatantly lie about my wife on the internet and there are just no rules that apply to him, but that’s outrageous to me.”
In light of Paula Deen recent career free fall — should Alec Baldwin be held to the same standard based on his pattern of controversial rants?
