Jay Leno received a priceless gift Tuesday on the TONIGHT show from his special guest President George W. Bush.
The former POTUS and First Lady Laura Bush accepted an invitation to appear on the NBC evening talk show, much to Leno’s shock and delight. They brought along a spectacular present for the soon-to-be retired Leno.
President Bush presented Jay with a portrait that he painted — a very good likeness of the stand up comedian. He remarked with a straight face, “I am a painter. You may not think I’m a painter; I think I’m a painter.”
W has been taking lessons in Dallas and reportedly told his instructor at the onset, “There’s a Rembrandt trapped in this body. Your job is to find him.”
Leno remarked that Bush “looks much more relaxed” since returning to private life. Bush cracked, “Duh!”
Other subjects covered included a discussion of his recent heart surgery. Mrs. Bush indicates she was very frightened but her husband said flippantly, “I wasn’t that scared.” Leno interjected, “You had Obamacare?” That got a big laugh.
