Rule #1 of being a defense attorney according to Annalise Keating: Don’t ask your client whether or not he or she is guilty. Just assume your client is a liar like everyone else in the world is a liar.

Rule #2: Trust no one. (That rule is from me, having decided that would be Annalise’s rule after How To Get Away With Murder Season 1 Episode 2.)

No, but really. Annalise trusts no one. Except her hot cop boyfriend. Certainly not her husband.

It’s a good thing she doesn’t trust her husband since there’s obviously something sinister about him. He ends up dead, and he was obviously involved somehow with Lila Stangard given the way he erased his email correspondence with her.

How did Annalise know he had something to do with her death? Aside from a hunch? Do she and Olivia Pope have the same never-wrong guts?

Does it matter?

The fact is that Annalise knows her husband knows something about the girl’s death. What that is, she’s not sure, but she feels afraid enough to turn her husband over to the police, essentially, by giving his name to her cop boyfriend so Sam can be investigated for Lila’s disappearance.

That’s…wow. That’s serious business.

How did these two even get together? A defense attorney and a psychologist. What strange bedfellows. (Almost as strange as a defense attorney and a cop, but hey, that’s television for us, right?)

Watching this show come together through the flashbacks and flash forwards is a true piece of Shondaland genius. Each episode leaves me with questions I desperately need to have answered.
