I dare you to go watch The Vampire Diaries online and watch as Alaric undoes three years of Elena’s memories of Damon and not have your heart broken just a little bit.

Seriously. Heartbreaking. And if nothing else, those were some amazing cherrypicked retrospective scenes interspersed throughout The Vampire Diaries Season 6 Episode 2.

But there was more–WAY MORE–that made last night’s episode worth watching. For starters? Michael Malarkey.

Enzo returned and man, does he ever know how to make a splash!

ENNNNZZZZZOOOOOOOOO!!!!! Isn’t he just THE BEST thing to happen to The Vampire Diaries since Alaric?

(Yes, yes he is.)

He’s a neck man. A man who likes to SNAP necks, that is! He snapped Ivy’s neck, then Stefan’s, and never broke a sweat while doing it! He did, however, promise to be the misery for Stefan which Damon had said he would visit upon his brother for cursing him by making him become a vampire.

Something tells me Enzo’s a man of his word.

Speaking of Damon, he and Bonnie are trapped in 1994, alone, and hanging out in their respective houses, but spending their day–the same one, repeatedly–together, bonding over crossword puzzles and bourbon. They are eerily alone.

Jeremy is putting on a brave face for Matt, pretending not to care about anyone or anything, but he’s secretly calling Bonnie’s phone just to shout into her voicemail. He’s paying for her phone bill so that he’ll still be able to do this.

Wouldn’t her voicemail box get full eventually? It should, right?

For now, Elena’s memories of Damon have been altered so that she can no longer remember that she ever loved him. She only knows that he’s a monster who killed her brother and tortured her friends. Eventually, he WILL be back, and what will happen when he returns?

How will Delena go on?
