Last week, we told you about the feud between Iggy Azalea and Azealia Banks.
Apparently, despite their shared love of flowering shrubs, Azalea and Azealia just can’t get along, and their feud has started encompassing larger issues, such as the appropriation of black culture by white musical artists.
Basically, Banks has accused Iggy of profiting from the culture of African-Americans without making any effort to understand their struggle.
A group of online hackers agrees with Azealia’s assessment, and they’ve threatened to release Iggy’s sex tape unless she apologizes to Banks.
“You have exactly 48 hours from now to issue a statement apologizing to Azealia Banks and the protesters in NYC,” reads one tweet, which refers to the demonstrations following the non-indictment of police officer Daniel Pantaleo.
“You are guilty of misappropriating black culture, insulting peaceful protesters and making light of Eric Garner’s death…There’s an X-rated tape of you we bet you certainly don’t want public, are we right? Comply or else.”
So, regardless of your feelings on their feud, the idea of using sex to coerce someone into bending to your will is genuinely nauseating, right? Just making sure.
Fortunately, this group’s claims of being associated with “hacktivist” group Anonymous has been exposed as BS and their Twitter account has already been suspended.
Still, angry nerds are angry, and in this case, it’s a very frightening thing.
