It has come to this for Todd Chrisley:
He's had to go on record in order to fend off accusations that he once tried to blackmail his own daughter via the threat to release her sex tape...
... unless she lied to authories about Todd's alleged role in a federal financial scheme.
Indeed, things have been ugly between Todd and Lindsie Chrisley for about two years now.
But they grew especially ugly a few months ago after Todd and his wife, Julie, were indicted for tax evasion.
Shortly after allegations hit that Todd hid millions of dollars worth of assets from the government, another wrinkle was added to this alleged scandal:
Todd's 29-year-old daughter -- who quit her family's USA Network reality show in 2017 - came out and accused her dad of blackmail and extortion.
Through an attorney, Lindsie has said that Todd pressured his child to mislead authorities and help him avoid prosecution... in exchange for him keeping this sex tape secret.
Lindsie even filed a police report in June over this alleged blackmail scheme.
Back in August, Todd sort of denied Lindsie's claim, while simultaneously revealing that she slept with two members of Bachelor Nation, Robby Hayes and Josh Murray.
"For reasons we can only guess at, she ran to the sheriff's office to accuse her brother of buying a sex tape of her and Robby, which was a complete lie, and now she's telling more lies about me," Todd said in a statement this summer.
(For the record, Hayes has confirmed that he once slept with Lindsie on a friend's sofa -- and the act actually was accidentally captured by that friend's puppy/security camera.)
And now Todd has once again spoken out about this very sordid saga.
"I want to go on the record today, folks, and say ... There is no sex tape," Chrisley said on his podcast Thursday, adding:
"There wasn't a sex tape. We were told about this in 2016 and it never came to fruition.
"There's never been a time that I have had a sex tape of my daughter inside in my possession."
Interesting choice of words, huh?
Chrisley isn't denying trying to extort Lindsie with the sex tape. He even says something about it "never came to fruition," while emphasizing the footage was never in his possession.
But couldn't he still have known about it?
And threatened Lindsie that he would make such knowledge public?
No, Todd continued on his podcast.
"I want to say now, and then we're gonna move on from it: There is no sex tape. I have never seen a sex tape. I have never had anyone try to sell me a sex tape, 'cause if they had, I would have bought it," he said.
To destroy it, the pathetic reality star explained.
Todd also addressed Lindsie's recent appeared on Dr. Phil in which she said her father was also making up a romantic relationship she had with a Georgia tax official.
"I don't care about the Dr. Phil show. It got very little traction and I think that it is what it is," he said, not exactly denying anything here, either.
Finally, Todd sent the following message to Lindsie, sounding totally insincere and condescending in the process:
"Lindsie, I love you. There's gotta be a lot of hurt there because for the things that have happened and the things that you've done, that has to come from a place of hurt.
"And I want you to know that I love you."
