Keeping Up with the Kardashians is not actually on the verge of cancelation.
Yes, it’s true that ratings for Season 13 were a disappointment across the board.
And there are competing theories why this happened.
Did viewers simply experience a bit of family fatigue after so many years of the Kardashians in the spotlight?
Were storylines such as Kim Kardashian’s robbery in Paris simply too serious for those who watch Keeping Up with the Kardashians online or on TV each week hoping for lighter material?
We can’t say for certain, but the season did end on a positive note.
Ratings for the final couple of episodes ticked up a bit, largely due to the release of excerpts from Caitlyn Jenner’s memoir and her family’s reactions to all she had to say.
In one clip from a June installment, Kris Jenner slammed her ex-husband as insane:
In another scene, Kim urged her step-father to stop lying:
Viewers tuned in to see various loved ones call out Caitlyn for making private matters public, such claiming at one point that all the money she earned over the years "went to Kris."
During her tirade against Caitlyn, Kim even says in the footage above that Jenner "just literally started three families with three different people and f-cked everyone over."
Ouch!
But also: cha-ching!
The series hit on a topic that drew fan interest with this storyline, which is why an insider tells Radar Online that Kris wants to bring Caitlyn back into the E! fold on Season 14.
“Kris is thrilled that the ratings boost happened and she wants to continue this drama with Caitlyn into next season,” explains this source, adding:
"She approached Caitlyn about it and told her that she wants to put their differences aside for the sake of the family!"
Caitlyn has said the Kardashians are full of drama and she has no regrets about all she spilled and there’s no way she’ll appear on their reality show again.
Unless…
"Caitlyn knows Kris’s intentions,” the insider says. “She basically told her, ‘Show me the money!’"
The Keeping Up with the Kardashians episode that aired last week and which featured Kris and Caitlyn at war over the latter’s biography, “The Secrets Of My Life," led to a a 175% increase in ratings.
It was the second highest-rated cable show in its time slot that Sunday evening.
Even with Kylie Jenner signing on to anchor in own series this summer, Kris knows that her bread is most heavily buttered as the producer of the family’s original, long-running program.
It’s not hard to imagine her going to any length to make sure it stays on the air for as many seasons as possible.
Heck, perhaps this means she even remarries Caitlyn if that’s what it takes. Or makes a sex tape with Corey Gamble.
Nothing would surprise us when it comes to Kris Jenner and her insatiable greed.
And that’s why we so very scared at the time of this writing.
(It’s also why Caitlyn should hold out for the biggest paycheck possible. Lord knows she deserves whatever she can get for putting up with Kris for so long.)
