TMZ cameras caught up with Game of Thrones author George R.R. Marti in Los Angeles yesterday and the beloved scribe continued his proud tradition of breaking the hearts of his adoring fans:
"I’m not even working on the last book," Martin told TMZ when asked if he’d have his epic series finished in time for the end of the acclaimed TV show which is based on it. "I’m working on the second to last book."
Not exactly encouraging news. Less encouraging still is Martin’s response to a question about the pace at which he’s banging out his doorstop tomes: "One page at a time," Martin replied, clearly none too concerned for the anxiety levels of his impatient fans.
So what’s taking so long? We’d imagine part of the problem is that Martin writes his 1,000-plus page novels on a DOS word processor! DOS!:
On the plus side, when asked by TMZ if he has a favorite character in the series, Martin replied "Tyrion" without missing a beat.
So if he loves the sarcastic fan favorite as much as the rest of us, he probably won’t kill him off! Right?
Oh, who are we kidding? No one’s gonna live to see the end of those books, except, hopefully George RR Martin.
