The short, pixie style Beyonce haircut debuted by this singer yesterday didn’t just take fans by surprise.
It also took the singer’s long-time colorist, Rita Hazan, aback.
"I was shocked," Hazan tells Us Weekly. "I think she was just feeling empowered, like a strong woman, and she said she’s been feeling it for a long time. She didn’t want to hide behind her hair in real life."
Hazan adds that the change makes her "happy" because Beyonce’s extensions may have been sending women the wrong message.
"It’s great for onstage, but everyday women shouldn’t have or want to have five pounds of hair on their head This hair is more natural, more realistic."
Beyonce did not include a caption or explanation for the radical shift, leaving fans to wonder what exactly was in her head when she altered what is on top of her head.
