You can’t be too careful. That’s what Chuck and Sally Heath, the parents of Sarah Palin, say in response to recent death threats they’ve received.

In fact, speaking from their home in Wasilla, Alaska, the couple tells the BBC they even “sleep with guns” amid some particularly scary events.

The couple claimed that Palin, the 2008 GOP V.P. candidate and current media celebrity, and “her whole family” had been the target of threats.

“One guy from Pennsylvania sent us copies of a receipt for a gun he bought, copies of a one-way ticket to Anchorage,” Charles “Chuck” Heath said.

“We kind of laugh it off, we got a restraining order, but lo and behold last week he showed up in Anchorage. Fortunately the FBI was on top of it.”

“Not only Sarah has been threatened but her whole family has been threatened. We sleep with the guns,” the father of the former governor said.

The mother of Palin expressed frustration at the abuse levelled at her daughter, saying, “I can’t imagine what specifically they would object to.”

Speculation is mounting that Palin will run for the right to represent the GOP in the 2012 presidential race – which she calls a mammoth task.

“Obama already said he’s going to rake in and spend one billion dollars in this race, so money is certainly going to be a consideration,” she said.

Palin toned down talk about her “maverick” reputation, but admitted she is unsure whether voters are “ready for someone a bit unconventional.”

That’s one way of putting it.

Regardless of whether she runs, crazies out there need to tone down the rhetoric and get a life. Threatening her or her family is reprehensible.

If you don’t like her, ignore her and don’t vote for her. It’s that simple! Well, you might have to turn off Fox News too … but you get the idea.
