Courteney Cox wants to make something very clear: she and David Arquette are merely separated.

“I don’t know what will happen, but this is not like we’re getting divorced,” she told TV Week in her first interview since news of her and Arquette’s split went public. “This is a separation and I think that takes a lot of courage… Whatever is supposed to happen will be the best thing for us.”

Acknowledging that she and her husband of 11 years have “grown apart,” Cox also addressed Arquette’s two phone calls to Howard Stern, in which he bragged about sex with other women.

“[David] is a kook,” she said. “It’s not shocking and Howard Stern, he loves him and I’m a fan of Howard Stern… David is an entertainer and I’m sure the people who listen to the radio are entertained by his stories.”

Has Cox relied on Jennifer Aniston, her close friend who, of course, has broken up a number of times with men? Yes. Speaking on her former co-star, the actress said:

“We just have fun, we laugh, we’re inseparable and it’s great. It’s funny, a lot of really close friends are kind of going through this right now… Jennifer has been amazing for sure.”
