Dr. Laura Schlessinger will soon be off the airwaves.

The host announced on Larry King Live last night that her contract runs out at the end of this year and “I’ve made the decision not to do radio anymore.”

Of course, such a decision wasn’t made purely out of her own volition. Schlessinger was at the center of a controversy last week, following the repetitive use of the N word to a caller that asked for advice on her marriage.

After this woman complained about the epithet, the host replied, on air:: “If you’re that hypersensitive about color and don’t have a sense of humor, don’t marry out of your race.”

Schlessinger has since apologized, but isn’t happy she was forced to do so.

“I want to regain my First Amendment rights,” she told King about her decision to leave radio. “I want to be able to say what’s on my mind and in my heart and what I think is helpful and useful without somebody getting angry, some special interest group deciding this is the time to silence a voice of dissent and attack affiliates, attack sponsors. I’m sort of done with that.”

THG Note: Why do so few people understand the First Amendment?!? It states: “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech…”

In other words: one cannot go to jail for simply speaking one’s mind. That’s all the First Amendment guarantees. It has nothing to do with a talk show host being criticized or punished for spewing offense language.

For a doctor, Laura Schlessinger, you sound like a moron.
