Later this month, the hilariously-titled Teen Mom OG will debut on MTV, and we couldn’t be more excited for the return of baby-makin’ trainwrecks like Farrah Abraham and, of course…Amber Portwood.

Amber has cleaned up her act since her last reality TV venture (Serving 17 months in prison may have helped her calm down a bit.), but she still has an awe-inspiring talent for making bad decisions.

Take her new relationship. for example:

Amber is dating Matt Baier – an unemployed 43-year-old father of two with an arrest record to rival Amber’s.

Now, sources are saying that Matt proposed, and Amber said yes. But in what might be the first logical decision of her life, Amber reportedly faked the scene for the benefit of MTV cameras.

“He proposed in November and she accepted,” an insider tells Radar Online. “But the proposal was all the show.”

Referring to the swanky diamond engagement ring with which Matt popped the question, the source added, “He doesn’t have that kind of money.”

Of course, the fact that the ring was outside of Matt’s price range doesn’t necessarily mean the whole thing was fake.

Well-off women buying their own engagement rings to take the burden off of their less-successful boos is all the rage these days. (Right, Lady Gaga?)

But even if the proposal was staged, we doubt Portwood and Baier will ever make it to the altar. Amber and Matt broke up last month, only to get back together a few days later.

Something these two tells us they’re not in it for the long haul.
