Macklemore Defends Concert Costume Against Accusations of Anti-Semitism

Macklemore sky-rocketed to acclaim as a result of "Same Love," a single that stands for the equal treatment of same-sex couples.

But the artist is now under fire for allegedly mistreating certain people himself during a performance in Seattle Friday night, as he took to the stage in an outfit some believe mocked Jewish stereotypes.

As seen here, the Grammy winner sang a rendition of “Thrift Shop” while donning a giant fake nose, beard and shaggy hair.

The Daily Dot, among others, criticized Macklemore for his get-up, which turned the rap star into what the site referred to as "some kind of Jewish caricature, prosthetic schnozz included."

Seth Rogen even jumped in via Twitter with:

".@macklemore, first you trick people into thinking you're a rapper, now you trick them into thinking you're Jewish?"

Once the story gained momentum online, the star himself Tweeted a defense/explanation of his costume, writing:

"A fake witches nose, wig, and beard = random costume. Not my idea of a stereotype of anybody."

What do you think, readers? Is Macklemore's costume offensive to Jewish people?
