She was found this morning in her apartment by her assistant, according to the BBC.

Police are treating it as a suicide, though it's unclear why and the medical examiner has yet to determine an official cause of death as of this report.

A spokesman for Jagger, who turned 70 last year and dated Scott since 2001, said he was "completely shocked and devastated" by Scott's death.

Scott, born Luann Bambrough, was raised by adoptive parents in Utah.

She began her career as a model in Paris, then moved to L.A. to become a fashion stylist, according to a biography on her company's website.

UPDATE: New reports appear to have confirmed the tragic suicide, indicating that L'Wren Scott was found hanging by a scarf inside of her apartment.

The beauty attracted a host of famous fans including Sarah Jessica Parker, Angelina Jolie, Michelle Obama, Nicole Kidman, Amy Adams and more over the years.

Just last month, Scott, who walked the Paris runways for Chanel and Thierry Mugler, canceled her London Fashion Week show due to production issues.

She founded her eponymous label in 2006.

Was she on any MED$ or being treated for depression? This looks like a PHARMACEUTICAL DRUG CRIME SCENE, to me. While we wait for the Toxicology Report, could someone asked if there were any MED$ laying around. When the commercial says this drug can make depression worse, and this drug may cause heart attack, stroke, SUICIDE and sudden death, this isn't half of the side effects. They don't tell you that these so-called miracle drugs aka antidepressants also cause HOPELESSNESS, DESPAIR, VIOLENT CRIMES, MURDER/SUICIDES, HOMICIDES and MASS MURDER Just look in the medicine cabinet for the murder weapon, it looks like a pill bottle.

Sadly, we'll probably never know. Coroners will simply presume they've been put on A/D's correctly to treat depression & it won't even feature as a consideration. I strongly suspect you're right. I hope Sir Mick could channel his grief into making the connection and bringing some good out of such a terrible tragedy

So very sad and true.
