John Travolta Responds to Idina Menzel Name Flub: I Just Let It Go!

by at . Comments

It was the most awkward, random, unexpected flub of the 2014 Oscars:

John Travolta got up on stage... gushed over Idina Menzel... and then introduced the Broadway legend as "Adele Dazim."

The Internet was left in stitches and in the hours that followed: How did he screw up the singer's name this badly? How did he not acknowledge the mistake soon afterward?

Well, now Travolta has done so.

"I've been beating myself up all day," the actor said a statement, referencing the Academy Award-winning song Menzel belted out on stage and adding:

"Then I thought, what would Idina Menzel say? She'd say, let it go, let it go!"

Okay, that's pretty funny. Well done, John Travolta Publicist!

According to sources, Menzel herself laughed it off, with an insider telling People "she thought it was funny."

And it certainly didn't affect her vocals. Watch the artist do the track justice now:

Who has ever heard of Idena Menzel before, I certainly had not. Many of us have heard of Adele before so easy mistake for him to make as she won or was nominated for Skyfall, James Bond movie last year. Adele is now recording songs with Phil Collins for movie soundtracks, in case John is wondering what Adele is doing. Since John wants to play the villain for a James Bond movie ABC said recently in an interview with John, maybe the real Adele and Phil Collins will do the soundtracks for his villain in James Bond. The name of the song will probably be "We Are Never Letting it Go" and bad news for the villains.
