Sports Illustrated favorite Kate Upton is front and center on the magazine's cover again this week, but not in a bikini for once (sadly). She's in a Braves jersey!
Yes, on the cover of the publication's baseball postseason preview issue, Kate poses on the shoulders of Atlanta Braves brothers B.J. and Justin ... Upton.
Kind of shameless and definitely a stretch.
But, as a wise man once said, anytime you can get the #1 model in the world on a cover with a young baseball star and his .184-hitting brother, you’ve gotta do it.
Kate Upton grew up in Michigan and once dated Detroit pitcher Justin Verlander. She's known for being a big sports fan, not just a dream girl of sports fans.
Other than that, sharing a similar surname, and the fact that Justin and B.J. play in Atlanta and Kate has probably heard of Atlanta, that's it for commonality.
Oh well. We'll take it any day! Now for this video:
Sorry for that. Now back to the topic at hand ...
The cover, shot by famed photographer Walter Iooss Jr., took place last month. It’s the first time that a swimsuit model has appeared on a regular SI cover.
It would also be a first if Kate, who's dating Maksim Chmerkovskiy, pinch-hit for B.J. Upton in the NLDS, which manager Fredi Gonzalez might want to consider.
Seriously. Who hits .184 with 151 strikeouts?!
