Josh Brolin has entered a rehab facility in Northern California for treatment of substance abuse following a series of altercations in early November.

According to Us Weekly, “He realized he needed help and is committed to his sobriety.”

Brolin was involved in a “drunken fist fight” at O’Brien’s Irish Pub at 2:00 a.m. in Santa Monica on Nov. 2. TMZ posted a video of that dust up as well as footage from a verbal altercation that same weekend between Brolin and a cab driver.

On Nov. 4, Brolin told TMZ that he deeply regretted his recent actions. When asked if he was planning to scale back his drinking, he stated emphatically, “Absolutely, it won’t be happening again. That’s it. Completely done.”

The 45-year-old actor split with his actress wife Diane Lane in February and they are in the process of ending their eight year union.

His latest film, ‘Sin City: A Dame to Kill For,’ is slated to hit U.S. theaters in August 2014. The ensemble cast includes Bruce Willis, Jessica Alba, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Stacy Keach, Lady Gaga, Ray Liotta, Jeremy Piven, Mickey Rourke and Juno Temple.

Josh is the son of actor James Brolin and the step-son of Barbra Streisand.
