Well, after a season-and-a-half of some of the most painful reality TV in the history of the genre, Dean McDermott has quit True Tori.

It’s a shame because True Tori Season 2 Episode 3 was one of the series. It actually featured a scene in which Tori and Dean get into a screaming match over the proper way to prepare a potato. No, really!

“I can’t keep opening the vein, opening my soul and sharing my feelings and thoughts and demons with the world. I don’t watch it. I can’t,” Dean adds.

“It’s really difficult. I can’t do it anymore, for my soul.”

Even though McDermott is a cheater and a douche, it’s hard not to feel for the guy when he opens up about his addictions and suicidal thoughts.

“The fact that I cheated on my wife, I wish never happened,” he admitted. “I wish my alcohol and drug use hadn’t gotten out of control. I still love her to death.”

“That’s why we’re still together. I almost lost everything, everything that means anything to me. I don’t want to ever do that again. I don’t ever want to be in that dark place again.”

McDermott admits having suicidal thoughts, and claims he wanted to get away from his problems so badly that he came close to pulling the trigger, literally.

“I was put on a 5150 at the UCLA psych ward … [My son] Liam had a performance and I didn’t want to miss that performance…I was driving around in my truck with a loaded 9 mm.”

So what does it mean that McDermott quit True Tori? Is he refusing to film more episodes, or have they already wrapped and this is just a publicity stunt?

Sadly, knowing these two, we’re going with the latter.
