In a shocking case of life imitating art, two Colorado men, Robert Young and Mark Rubinson, took their deceased friend out for a night on the town.

Remember the classic movie Weekend at Bernie’s? This story screams that classic. Police report that the men discovered their friend, Jeffrey Jarrett, 43, deceased in his Denver, Colorado home.

They placed the body in their SUV and decided to go out for a night of fun while using Jarrett’s credit cards to foot the bill. They filled up the car with gas, hit a burrito joint, hit several bars and restaurants and ended the evening at a strip club, where they spent $400 of the dead man’s money.

While the pair was out enjoying their evening of hijinks, their dead friend’s corpse remained in the vehicle. At the end of the night they did call authorities to report the death.

Sonny Jackson of Denver Police Department said, “This is a bizarre and unfortunate crime. This isn’t anything you want to have happen to a loved one. You want them treated with respect in death.”

Charges against Young and Rubinson include abusing a corpse, identity theft, and criminal impersonation. They each posted $3,500 bond and will appear in Denver County Court for a preliminary hearding on September 27.
