All summer long, The Vampire Diaries fans have been asking themselves one question: Where in the world are Bonnie and Damon?
We didn’t get that answer on The Vampire Diaries Season 6 Episode 1, but we did find out that, for Elena Gilbert, it’s pretty much like Damon never left thanks to her heavy use of psychotropic herbs which make her hallucinate him on the regular.
Read on to find out how she copes with the realization that she can’t keep living like this forever. (Or just watch The Vampire Diaries online to see for yourself.)
Let’s talk about how things are different now that our merry band of friends have been forbidden from returning to Mystic Falls:
Elena has thrown herself into college, deciding to become a doctor so she can steal blood from the blood bank. Stefan has headed south to Savannah, GA to become…a mechanic.
He was supposed to be looking for a way to bring Damon and Bonnie back, but, as he tells Elena, he “gave up.” Anyone who believes Stefan has REALLY given up doesn’t really understand Stefan and the bond he has with Damon. It’s way more likely that he told Elena he gave up so that he didn’t give her false hope.
Hence, hijinx will ensue when Stefan finds a way to bring Bonnie and Damon back and Elena can’t remember that they were each other’s one true loves because she had Alaric erase her memory of loving him so deeply. That won’t happen next week, but at some point, it will. And then we’ll get to watch the two of them fall in love all over again.
This is Julie Plec’s way of stringing my fellow Delena fans and I along. It’s totally working.
Oh yeah, that compelling vampires thing is totally something Alaric can do, and I gotta say, while it might suck for him to be a vampire and he might hate it, the ability to compel other vampires seems like it could be pretty handy. He’s basically an Original now.
(Does Klaus need someone who knows a lot about the Occult in New Orleans? Will Alaric go there to find Esther to see if she has another way to un-vampire him? Crossovers! Make them happen!)
He’s also teaching occult studies at Whitmore. He should watch out because professors of that course typically don’t fare too well. Someone might have a spare white oak stake laying around and accidentally impale him with it.
Caroline is being, well, Caroline. She’s searching for a way to reverse the curse keeping them all out of Mystic Falls so they have hope of returning home some day. And she’s a college dropout. Can’t say I saw that one coming for Care.
Tyler’s rage? Yeah, no one was shocked when he said that’s all he feels. He’s trying really hard not to be douchebag Tyler from The Vampire Diaries Season 1 and so far, he’s barely able to manage. What he needs to do is get off the vervain and have Alaric compel him to be a nice, non-angry guy. A docile kitty cat. That might be the only way to suppress his werewolf gene.
