Bit by bit, the death of Sam Keating is coming together. Slowly, we’re learning that each of the four students disposing of the body have all been complicit in the man’s death.
How to Get Away With Murder Season 1 Episode 5 zeroed in on Laurel and her willingness to get her hands dirty when she believes in the cause.
Sam tells Annalise that he slept with Lila over the summer, six or seven times, and that was the end of things. Then we find out that he and Annalise got together in much the same way, except he left his first wife for her.
Annalise, once a cheater, always a cheater. (Not like she has any room to talk.)
She later finds out that he lied about being at Yale on the night the girl died, which leads Annalise to wonder if her husband had something to do with her death. She forces him to evaluate Rebecca and thanks to some pretty spectacular wallpaper, Rebecca realizes that Sam was Lila’s lover.
Rebecca believes Annalise took her case to cover up a murder for her husband and tries to skip town. Wes goes to Annalise to ask about Sam.
In the present day, Laurel and the gang are trying to get rid of Sam’s dead body when Laurel’s phone rings. It’s Frank. She tells the group they slept together and then answers her phone to deepen their alibi.
After leaving the woods, she goes to Frank and asks for a favor, but we don’t know what that is yet. All we know for now is that she’s there. When we watch How to Get Away With Murder online next week, we’ll find out what she wants. Besides a roll in the sack with Frank, that is.
Laurel was actually the student to get her hands dirty this week. She prompted a mistrial by informing the jury in the case of a son who shot his abusive father about jury nullification. To outright tell them about the term would be tampering, so she leaves a printout on a bench where she’s sure a juror will find it.
Her plan works, and while it’s a gamble, the boy’s case is kicked back to juvenile court. Client saved!
