Adrian Peterson may have missed out on a record yesterday, but he led his team into the playoffs and all but assured himself of league MVP.
The running back fell nine yards short of the all-time mark for rushing yards in a season, but he still gained 199 on the Packers, as the Vikings earned a 37-34 victory and the #6 seed in the NFC Playoffs
“Ultimately we got the ‘W’,” Peterson said after the win, adding of the record: “We said during the week, if it happens, it happens. Don’t focus on it… God willing, I’ll get it next year.”

The biggest surprise in the league, Minnesota was 3-13 a season ago with virtually the same roster.
But it’s now heading to the postseason and will visit Green Bay next weekend in a rematch of its season-ending victory.
Peterson, meanwhile, became just the seventh player in NFL history to break the 2,000-yard barrier in a season. And the guy tore his ACL just one year ago. He’s incredible.
