Mackenzie McKee tried.
She really, really did.
Upon announcing her split from husband Josh last week, the Teen Mom OG star didn’t really hurl any shade and/or alleged any untoward behavior by her spouse.
“Sometimes things work and sometimes, no matter how hard you fight, it just doesn’t work out,” McKee wrote on Instagram several days ago, referring to the end of her 12-year union.
This was a subdued and unexpected reaction from McKee, considering she’s blown Josh up in the past for his admitted infidelity.
And also for his imagined infidelity, as Mackenzie once falsely told the world that her husband had slept with her cousin.
“The old me would have released a story about how awful Josh is, what he did and why this marriage is ending,” McKee added to Celebuzz when discussing her impending divorce.
“The new me understands that we are both walking away from this with deep scars and our kids love us both despite the pain we brought one another.
“We are human, we are all human on this earth just trying to make it.”
On Monday, however, a day after McKee shared a thirst trap photo of herself ready to hit the clubs, the mother of three couldn’t help but take a dig at Josh.
A pretty pointed dig, too.
“People see me unleashed and finally happy after years of hell,” Tweeted McKee, continuing as follows by quoting her concerns fans:
I’m worried you are gonna go downhill.
“B-tch, why were you not worries when I was suicidal and being emotionally abused daily.”
Concluded McKee:
“I’m good and free. Never been better in fact.”
So… her marriage was Hell and Josh abused her emotionally and she had thoughts of suicide?
Yikes.
Mackenzie and Josh are parents to Gannon, 10, Jaxie, 8, Broncs, 5.
They’ve both committed adultery over the years, with McKee at one point even bragging about how often she slept around.
It does sound like something fairly awful transpired to end this marriage for good, but McKee isn’t providing many details.
“Was I a perfect wife?” McKee also told Celebuzz. “No. But I’m also not pretending that Josh was a good husband.”
Continued a clearly bitter McKee:
“Us women do not leave until we are ready. Until we can wake up, notice the coffee don’t smell right, and something is off.
“That was my marriage.”
Looking ahead, Mackenzie also said she wishes “nothing but peace and happiness” to her soon-to-be ex-spouse.

Making a fairly ironic point — because she was speaking in a public forum to a popular website and because she’s now talking about it to millions of social media followers — McKee concluded last week by saying she wants to keep her private life more private.
“Do I want to even talk about this down time of my life?” she told Celebuzz.
“No. But people have been following us for over a decade now and before other tabloids get it twisted.
“I wanted to simply share our update and ask that people just understand we are two people who didn’t workout and human just like the rest of the world.
“No need to investigate why.”

Josh has not yet responded to Mackenzie’s decree, which concluded as follows:
“Do I regret this decision? No. Not at all.
“It’s hard leaving and becoming a single mom. But it’s harder staying and living the only days God gave me being told by someone I loved I was nothing in this life…
“I love Joshua as my kids father and will respect him as that from here on.”
