The Los Angeles Lakers defeated the Houston Rockets in overtime last night, earning the seventh seed in the Western Conference Playoffs.

But the seat below coach Mike D’Antoni still might feel a bit hot this offseason.

Sources confirm to ESPN that Phil Jackson, who owns a record 11 championship rings, is “itching” to return to the NBA in some capacity.

It’s possible he takes on a front office gig, but a head coaching job is likely his first choice.

 

If the Lakers are not an option, look for the Brooklyn Nets to once again go after Jackson. Hard.

Another possibility could be the Los Angeles Clippers if the team lets Vinnie Del Negro go. He’s in the final year of his contract, is not beloved by players and it would create a positively awesome setup if Jackson returns to Los Angeles… for the Lakers’ rival
