In a new interview with Billboard, Prince makes his feelings on both Madonna and Maroon 5 very clear: the iconic singer is not a fan.
Asked by things ended badly between himself and Warner Bros. Records, Prince cites the Material Girl by name, telling the magazine:
“It was always about Madonna. She was getting paid, but at the same time we were selling more records and selling out concerts on multiple nights.”

Madonna and Prince actually dated in the 80s (we know: EWWWW!) and collaborated on “Love Song” off the album “Like a Prayer.”
But the relationship turned sour and Madonna referred to Prince as a “little troll” in 1994.
Prince also takes a shot at Adam Levine and his band in the Q&A, referring to Maroon 5’s cover of “Kiss” last year and asking:
“Why do we need to hear another cover of a song someone else did? Art is about building a new foundation, not just laying something on top of what’s already there.”
Prince will be given the 2013 Icon Award at the Billboard Music Awards Ceremony in Las Vegas on May 19. We can think of two acts who may not stand and cheer for him.
