Man, 2012 was a great year for videos.

Long or short, highly produced or randomly amateur, political or sexual, musical or viral, these 12 videos spread like wildfire across the World Wide Internets.

What videos stand out as your favorites over the past 12 months? We've chosen a dozen that defined the year. Let's take a look back at 2012 in moving pictures:

12. Gotye, "Somebody That I Used to Know." Overplayed as it is dinky as it is catchy, Gotye's song may be one-hit wonder material, but that one hit was HUGE!

Cool video, too. Often imitated, never duplicated.

There was no elimination on Dancing With the Stars Tuesday, due to the unusual, debate-induced splitting of the week's routines into two one-hour blocks.

On the plus side, that means at least another week for each of the remaining All-Stars, who performed group routines as well as their individual dances.

Team Call Me Maybe. Team Gangnam Style. Yep, the year's two biggest viral hits got the DWTS treatment. Watch below, then vote for your favorite!

Which DWTS group dance did you like most?

Fox is giving viewers multiple early looks at this Thursday's Glee Season 4 premiere.

First, the network released the full performance of Kate Hudson getting down and dirty to a mash-up of Lady Gaga and Jennifer Lopez.

The cast of one of Fox's biggest hits is about to go all Carly Rae Jepsen on us.

On the Glee Season 4 premiere - which will take viewers to New York City and feature Kate Hudson as a strict dance instructor who gives Lea Michele's Rachel Berry a hard time - a series of cast members will be the latest to cover "Call Me Maybe."

Unlike some other videos, of course, there's no lip synching here. Just the vocal stylings of Kevin McHale, Darren Criss and many others. Do they do the track justice? Take a listen and decide for yourself:

The Kelly Clarkson is Totally Awesome Tour continued at the Mixtape Festival in Hershey, Pennsylvania on Saturday night.

Spending a portion of her recent concerts covering the hits of other artists - such as Eminem and Anna Nalick - the original American Idol took a fan request over the weekend and belted out an acoustic version of Carly Rae Jepsen's "Call Me Maybe."

Perhaps you've heard of it.

The only individual who might not wanna listen to the following cover? Jepsen herself, seeing as Clarkson possesses one of the best voices in the business. But everyone else should totally click Play now:

Catwoman on violin. Bane on drums. And an injured Bruce Wayne dancing around to the tune of "Call Me Maybe."

It's just another video based on the Carly Rae Jepsen smash that recently set a record for most weeks on top of the Billboard 200.

Watch now to see an actor dressed as Joseph Gordon-Levitt's character in The Dark Knight Rises, as he serenades a wounded Wayne and attempts to inspire him to don his iconic black cape once again.

Just try not to tap your feet against the beat as you do so:

Ryan Lochte has officially made it.

Not because this 28-year old American defeated Michael Phelps yesterday in the 400 Individual Medley, but because he's the subject of a new "Call Me Maybe" parody, which focuses on the rivalry between these two Olympic swimmers and whose lyrics include:

Strange pecs, taking bong hits/Stay smooth, shave your armpits/Where you think you're swimming, Mikey?

Hey, I'm not Michael, don't eat at Subway/But this is my year, so call me Lochte/It's hard to swim right, by Phelps baby/But this is my year, so call me Lochte.

Earlier in the week, another video went viral in which Lochte and Phelps joined members of the swim team in lip syncing to Carly Rae Jepsen's smash hit.

You know what they say, a team that covers "Call Me Maybe" together wins together.

At least that what the United States Olympic Swim Team is hoping.

That group - led by Gold Medal hopefuls Ryan Lochte, Michael Phelps and Missy Franklin - joined the chorus of those who have lip synched to the Carly Rae Jepsen single this week, releasing a fun video that shows folks getting into the act on a bus, on a plane and even in the pool... underwater style!

It's a fun version of the track. And, yes ladies, Lochte gets shirtless around the one-minute mark. Watch now!
