Rumors of an NSYNC reunion at MTV VMAs, which set the Internet ablaze yesterday, were not entirely off base, but it's also far from a done deal.
The New York Post reported that Justin Timberlake, J.C. Chasez, Lance Bass, Joey Fatone and Chris Kirkpatrick are set to perform this weekend.
If they do, though, it remains to be seen what form it will take.
"They're in Miami trying to put something together, if anything at all," a source tells E! News of the NSYNC reunion, which may just be them joining JT on stage.
"It may not be a performance."
MTV approached Timberlake about the reunion when it was announced he was being honored Sunday with the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award.
They wanted to make sure N Sync was acknowledged as a part of his success," the source said. "They were together 10 years before he went solo."
They disbanded more than 10 years ago, and last performed together during a televised tribute to the Bee Gees at the Grammy Awards in 2003.
Timberlake and MTV have not commented on the reports.
