Britney Spears: Dating Chase Benz?

We would chalk this story up to the date on our calendars today, but that doesn't really apply, since every day is April Fools Day at Star Magazine.

There's a new man in Britney Spears' life, the celebrity gossip tabloid reports, and their relationship has "grown from flirtation to full-out fireworks!"

Chase Benz, 21, is a chiseled backup dancer that Britney gets to bump and grind every night onstage during her comeback Circus tour. See below.

Turns out the Tennessee native has Britney's pulse racing off the stage as well as on it: "Britney really loves the way Chase looks, and she has a thing for Southern boys with loads of charm," says a source supposedly close to the singer.

According to one report, Chase Benz Britney Spears over off-stage.

"She's totally into him. And being on tour again, plus having a sexy new guy to get close to, has put Britney in a great frame of mind," the source says.

The best part: Chase Benz is a stand-up guy, his grandmother adds.

“He’s a true gentleman with a big heart,” says Elsie Mann of Chase, who got his start in Christian music and calls Jesus “a huge part of my life” on MySpace.

“She’s lucky to have him in her show - and Chase just adores her!”

Well, it's sure good to hear Jesus is a big part of Benz's life. Though we wonder how the big J.C. feels about Chase dancing suggestively to "If U Seek Amy."
