After much speculation and political posturing, Sarah Palin has decided not to throw her hat in the ring during the 2012 presidential election cycle.
Many assumed that she would attempt to ride the Tea Party wave all the way to the White House … but the political climate has caused the outspoken maverick to step back for now.
The former governor of Alaska said, “After much prayer and serious consideration, I have decided that I will not be seeking the 2012 GOP nomination for president of the United States. As always, my family comes first and obviously Todd and I put great consideration into family life before making this decision. When we serve, we devote ourselves to God, family and country. My decision maintains this order.”
Shortly after the news broke, the politico did a radio interview on the Mark Levin Show. He asked her if she’d consider stepping in as an independent candidate. She responded, “I would assume that a third party would just guarantee Obama’s reelection, and that’s the last thing the Republican party can afford. So the consideration for a third party is not there, no.”
Palin picked up a lucrative multi-year contract with Fox News in 2010 that has allowed the family to keep the lights burning brightly at their Wasilla homestead.
