Rose Rollins plays a decorated soldier on the Showtime drama The L Word. Season five, which premiered on January 6, has her character, Tasha Williams, totally embroiled in an investigation for sexual misconduct.
The decorated Iraqi war veteran has kept her sexuality in the closet until now. Her dilemma is that under the military rules of ‘don’t ask, don’t tell’, she must lie to stay in the service.
Tasha began a relationship, last season, with Alice Pieszecki (Leisha Hailey), who runs a lesbian website. They quarreled bitterly about the war and were generally polar opposites in their temperament. The military found out about the relationship and used Alice to make their case against Tasha.
Alice took the stand at the trial against Tasha and provided testimony that only made matters worse for her lover Tasha. Her flightly personality is in sharp contrast to the strong and solid Tasha. Whether their romance will continue is up for speculation.
The new season has Tasha beginning the discharge process from the military. Expect it to be a rocky road for her as the season progresses. Other cast members include Jennifer Beals who plays Bette, Marlee Matlin as Jodi and Katherine Moennig, who has the role of Shane.
