Lena Dunham’s memoir Not That Kind of Girl continued to be an unlikely source of controversy this week, but this time it’s unlikely that Dunham will find herself in the position of being forced to apologize.

You may remember the Girls star’s literary debut sparked a debate last month when a conservative accused Dunham of sexually molesting her sister based on an incident described in the book.

We won’t go into detail, but it’s important to note said incident occurred when Lena was 7 years old.

Anyway, another right wing men’s rights advocate has decided to target his rage at Lena this week, but this guy has a far more despicable goal in mind.

Not only is he accusing Dunham of lying about being raped, he’s aggressively trying to shame her for going public with her story.

Dunham recounted an experience that’s no doubt familiar to far too many women, in which a man – whom she identifies only as Barry – turned consensual sex into a forceful affair during which he became aggressive, refused to where a condom, and forced Dunham to do things with which she did not feel comfortable.

Harrowing stuff. Unfortunately, Lena described her attacker as politically conservative, and thus she incurred the ire of Breitbart News’ John Nolte:

“Under scrutiny,” Nolte wrote. “Dunham’s rape story didn’t just fall apart, it evaporated into pixie dust and blew away.”

“We immediately found that there indeed was a prominent Republican named Barry who attended Oberlin at the time in question. [But] the facts do not point back at him. Not even close…This man is by all accounts (including his own) innocent.”

Naturally, Nolte is calling for Dunham to apologize for sharing her story with the world. What a guy.
