The case of the missing and now found murder-mystery writer isn’t even close to being solved as we learned on Castle Season 7 Episode 2. There’s something we don’t know about Rick Castle’s time away.
There’s something he doesn’t know about that time. As such he’s offered up a $250,000 reward for information, draining his coffers just a bit and annoying the cops by using them as glorified secretaries.
Yes, Castle is back, but as Kate confided in Lanie, things are different between the two of them. Viewers are eagerly awaiting a Caskett wedding, but her words have us wondering if that’s a thing we’ll actually get to see in the coming months.
Go watch Castle online to see if you pick up on the foreboding in her words. It’s okay. We’ll wait.
She’s absolutely right, of course. Something IS different between them. Castle was missing for two months and while she has him back now, that sort of thing changes a person.
Castle managed to convince Beckett to let him return to Montreal to investigate one of the tips they received, which further complicates the questions about what happened to him while he was there.
Ultimately, however, his return to Montreal gave us one of the sweetest, saddest Castle quotes of the first two episodes.
“Castle: [to Kate] Just know that I love you. I’ve always loved you. Always.”
By the end of the episode, we’re all one step closer to an answer which we’ve sought for seasons now. Why does Castle write murder-mysteries? What happened to him as a child to compel him to work out his life on paper?
Will we find out soon? It’s looking likely.
