When we heard that Rosie O’Donnell would be returning to The View, we imagined there would be some tense words exchanged, but we thought the beef would be between O’Donnell and Nicolle Wallace.

According to reports from the set, however, O’Donnell has been mostly civil to the show’s resident Republican, but she’s also been locking horns with fellow comic Whoopi Goldberg.

Yes, Rosie and Whoopi apparently got into an ugly war of words in front of their studio audience this week.

The incident won’t be televised, but many have the witnesses have come forward with alarming stories.

Apparently, the ladies were discussing the Adrian Peterson scandal and the notion of spanking kids for punishment.

Rosie went on a rant, during which Whoopi (who’s taken Barbara Walters’ place as the show’s moderator) was forced to interrupt her so that the show could cut to commercial.

That’s when Rosie flipped out on Whoopi:

“As soon as they went to commercial break, Rosie took the handheld microphone that they use to engage the audience,” says one witness.

“Instead of talking to the audience, Rosie spoke directly to Whoopi in the mic and [said] she was ‘very upset’ and ‘didn’t appreciate’ what Whoopi had done.”

Whoopi was apparently and tried to smooth things over by telling Rosie that it’s “not the time for this.”

O’Donnell continued to rant and rave, leading Goldberg to fire back in epic fashion:

“F–k it, I told you to leave it alone and you don’t want to listen,” Whoopi reportedly shouted at Rosie. “If you want to go there Rosie, I will dammit. I’m really sick of your sh-t!”

And it’s on! Is it just us, or are you also suddenly really looking forward to The View tomorrow?
