Viacom-owned cable network MTV has canceled the late-night talk show ‘Nikki & Sara Live’ after two seasons.
Co-hosts Nikki Glaser and Sara Schaefer kicked off the series in January 2013 and got renewed for a second twelve episodes in July – actually discovering the news about a second season while doing a guest appearance on ‘The Katie Show.’
They welcomed an impressive list of guests during their two season stint: Justin Timberlake, Jimmy Fallon, Arsenio Hall, Jason Derulo, One Direction, Jessica Alba, Jenny McCarthy, Kesha, Phillip Phillips and Daniel Radcliffe.
The duo have also hosted a weekly comedy podcast ‘You Had to Be There’ since January 2011. The show is taped in Sara’s Brooklyn apartment with a small audience of friends hanging out to witness the performances of a guest comedian and musician.
MTV programming president Susanne Daniels released this statement, “We are huge fans of Nikki and Sara, they are extremely talented and funny, and we look forward to working with them again. We want them to remain part of the MTV family.”
Sara tweeted, “I’m very sad to announce that Nikki & Sara Live will not be returning. I’m weepy and humbled by all the nice tweets about the show. It would have been so pointless without all y’all. Can’t wait for what’s next.”
