After a self-imposed two week break from public appearances, it was back to business as usual over the weekend for Prince Harry, who spoke at the 2012 WellChild Awards and attended Day 6 of the Paralymic Games.
The Prince was decidedly playful with the children being honored at the high-profile event. Six-year-old Alex Logan, an award recipient, told a reporter before the event that he planned to say, “I’m glad you’ve got your clothes on Prince Harry.”
Queen Elizabeth’s grandson was prepared for the assault. He wagged his finger at the boy and said, “I heard you were on TV earlier, you said something cheeky, let’s not talk about that here.”
Photographers were eager to capture new images of the fun-loving Royal, who has remained out of sight in London following the release of the now infamous Las Vegas “strip billiards” pics.
Dressed in a navy power suit and red tie, the prince stepped up to the podium to deliver a short speech: “All of you, children, families, nurses, doctors, carers, volunteers are quite frankly too remarkable for me adequately to describe with mere words.”
Then he took an opportunity to poke fun at himself: “Never one to be shy in coming forward, I’ll give it a go.” He then stifled a throaty laugh and the audience responded in kind and further showed their support with a round of applause.
