Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong was rushed to the hospital over the weekend, forcing the band to cancel their concert scheduled for September 2 in Bologna, Italy.

The band’s bassist Mike Dirnt and drummer Tre Cool posted a video on YouTube apologizing to fans, explaining that Armstrong’s doctors advised him not to perform. They did not reveal the nature of the singer’s illness.

“Billy got rushed to the hospital last night due to illness. The doctors don’t think it’s a good idea for him to play today,” said Dirnt.

“We’re beyond devastated. We’re as sad as you guys are. Billie’s extremely upset about it, and we’ll see you very soon,” added Tré Cool.
