While performing a concert Saturday night in Branson, Missouri, Andy Williams revealed to the audience that he is battling bladder cancer.
The legendary crooner, 83, is currently appearing in his annual Christmas Show at the Moon River Theater.
As he stood at the microphone, he told the crowd, “You may have read or heard that I have bladder cancer. It’s true and I’m currently undergoing treatment to deal with it.”
He sounded upbeat as he remarked, “But that is no longer a death sentence. People are kicking it, and they’re winning more and more every year. And I’m going to be one of them.”
Andy’s website cautioned ticket buyers that several guest stars may stand in for him this season when he is unable to make live appearances “due to health reasons.”
The still handsome 1960’s television icon is best known for his popular weekly variety program, The Andy Williams Show.
His ex-wife and mother of his children, Claudine Longet, went to prison for fatally shooting her boyfriend, Olympic skier Spider Sabich, in 1976.
