Actor Johnny Depp has signed on to produce and star in a live-action biopic detailing the life of children’s author Ted Geisel, known to multiple generations of readers as the beloved Dr. Seuss.

Universal Pictures will distribute the project that is likely to incorporate some animated elements.

Geisel died in 1991 at the age of 87. He penned 46 children’s books, selling more than 200 million copies of his famous kid classics.

Popular titles included The Cat and the Hat, Green Eggs and Ham, and How the Grinch Stole Christmas. His last book, published in 1990, was the inspirational Oh, The Places You’ll Go!
