An ultralight plane crashed into a Ferris wheel at the annual three-day festival at Old Bar, on the seaside in New South Wales.

The pilot, Paul Cox, 53, and his passenger, 32, were in the Cheetah S200 when it slammed into the amusement ride and became tangled and hung up in its wires and cables.

What should have been a thrill ride turned into a terrifying ordeal for two children trapped on the ride nearly 40 feet from the ground.

Because of the threat of rain, the ride had emptied except for a boy, 9, and a girl, 13, who wanted one last ride.

It took 90 minutes to rescue the two children. The pilot and a passenger remained trapped for three hours.

A crane was used to free everyone involved. Paramedic Brett Campbell said, “The kids were fantastic. They were so calm and so well-behaved and very brave. The best thing about it, no one really had any injuries.”
