Susan Lucci appears to be more than a little bitter about the demise of All My Children, placing the blame squarely on the shoulders of the president of ABC Daytime, Brian Frons.
Having played Erica Kane for more than 40 years, the actress has decided not to simply walk gracefully into the sunset before getting something off her chest.
Lucci has added a scathing epilogue to the paperback edition of her best selling book, All My Life: A Memoir.
Among the tidbits, she suggests that Frons “has what, for me, is that fatal combination of ignorance and arrogance.”
She went on to say, “I watched Brian Frons’ decisions destroy the production of our show and the lives of people on both sides of the country.”
The soap star detailed his bad decisions that began in 2008 when he ousted the show’s creator Agnes Nixon, and replaced her with a “subpar” writer, then ultimately decided to replace the iconic show with a less expensive food show.
ABC told the New York Post, “We have all the respect in the world for Susan, and are sorry she felt the need to write this epilogue to an otherwise incredible career.”
The last episode of All My Children was taped on August 30 and will air on September 23. The replacement talk show, The Chew, will premiere September 26, 2011 on ABC.
