Country singer Taylor Swift is known for expressing her feelings through the songs she writes. While most of the time, the lyrics are all about her current or past relationships, this time ‘Mean’ takes aim at bullies and survivors.
The music video, featuring a single from her hit album Speak Now, shows teen victims in various scenarios: a boy being bullied while reading a fashion magazine in the locker room, a girl dressed in a fast-food uniform being ridiculed by her peers, and another teen who eats her lunch in the bathroom after she is ostracized by a popular clique in the school cafeteria.
The next scenes shows these same teens as successful adults: a fashion designer, an business executive, and a Taylor Swift concert attendee.
