Musician Rick Springfield, an 80’s heartthrob, was arrested Sunday night in Malibu on suspicion of DUI. The 61-year-old entertainer was taken in after fumbling his way through a series of field sobriety tests.
L.A. Sheriff’s Lt. Chew spoke with Radar Online about the arrest: “Springfield was stopped due to a traffic violation and was subjected to a sobriety test. He failed and then was arrested and taken to Malibu’s Sheriff’s station where he was tested for alcohol levels.
Springfield reportedly registered a reading of .10 and then .08.” The legal limit in California is .08. Springfield was booked and subsequently released on $5,000 bail.
A friend, who was traveling with the musician, was allowed to drive away in the singer’s blue corvette.
