Donald Trump turned out to be the butt of a slew of one-liners last night at the 2011 White House Correspondents’ Dinner. He was sliced, diced and roasted during the press corp’s annual night of frivolity.
President Barack Obama joined the crowd as Hulk Hogan’s patriotic anthem Real American played. An image of his birth certificate flashed on the screen. What followed was amusing.
Obama claims that with Trump’s birth certificate debate over, the real estate mogul can focus on other pressing conspiracy theories … like, “did we fake the moon landing?”
Speaking of birth certificates, the commander-in-chief offered up some advice for another potential 2014 candidate: “Michele Bachmann is here. She is thinking about running for president, which is weird because I hear she was born in Canada. Yes, Michele, this is how it starts.”
Host Seth Meyers had some terrific one-liners too, taking pot shots at cable news, birth certificates, and The Donald.
On the Sunday morning talk show circuit, Trump acknowledged that he found the event “inappropriate in certain respects.” He quipped: “I really knew what I was getting into last night. I had no idea it would be to that extent where, you know just joke after joke after joke. It was almost like, is there anyone else you can talk about?”
