Former Miss America emcee and Hour Magazine host Gary Collins is being sought by police in Jackson, Mississippi following a hit and run accident on Tuesday that left a woman and child injured.

WAPT in Jackson reports that Collins rear-ended a car driven by Cheryl Hales at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday on I55 Frontage Road. Her husband Perry Hales said: “He wasn’t concerned for my wife’s well-being. He simply walked over and got into his vehicle and left, and I’m a little angry about this.”

Mr. Hales said he smelled alcohol when he spoke to Collins at the scene of the crash, something that the actor denies. The injured woman’s husband wants a judge to hold Collins accountable. Hale said: “Based on his history, it will very likely happen again.”

According to Officer Colendula Green, Collins has been charged with leaving the scene of an accident.

The woman involved told law enforcement officers that Collins struck her vehicle, then got out in a “clearly intoxicated” state, and asked her “What are you waiting for?” She told him that she had dialed 911 and help was on the way. He promptly got back into his vehicle and left the scene.

The 72-year-old television personality has been charged with DUI in 2002, 2007 and 2009. The third arrest resulted in a sentence of 120-day house arrest. Collins was pulled over while driving a motor home, and registered a .29 alcohol level.

Collins is married to Mary Ann Mobley, Miss America 1959.
