Adnan Ghalib, the paparazzo who became Britney Spears‘ constant companion for a brief period, has broken his silence in what he claims is a non-paid interview with ET.

Despite rumors that Ghalib was paid a huge sum of money for the interview, set to air over several days, the dissed lover says he was not paid a dime.

It was rumored, and later disputed, that Britney had filed a restraining order against her former pal. In a recent video, the pop star denied she ever knew Adnan, using her newly acquired British accent.

Ghalib’s first statement before the television interview was released on his employer, Final Pixx, website:

Final Pixx: Adnan do you have any comments regarding these posted allegations?

Adnan: All I can say is that I have not been in contact with Britney since early Friday morning.

The reason being, that I have had to attend a family funeral in Santa Barbara. My phone has been off during this time out of respect for my family. I am only now becoming aware of what is being said. I hope to be back home in Los Angeles soon and to be in contact with Miss Spears.
