Bruce Springsteen set out to enhance his 16 year old daughter Jessica’s equestrian endeavors by agreeing to purchase a star gelding from Olympic Equestrian Todd Minikus. Then he changed his mind and the courts were called in to sort it all out.
The Boss reportedly agreed to purchase Minikus’ prize horse, Pavarotti, for $650,000 plus turning over ownership of daughter Jessica’s horse Scarlett, said to be worth $200,000. Springsteen plunked down $25,000 and the deal was struck. The Springsteen’s got cold feet, before the horse changed hands, after seeing Pavarotti perform at the Pan Am Games in Brazil.
The owner, a member of the U.S. Equestrian Team, has had his day in court and a settlement reportedly called for Springsteen to fork over $200,000 in compensation.
