Remember that scene at the end of Footloose where all the small town teens are so excited they get to have a Senior Prom that they put on their Sunday best (or in “Ariel’s” case, the bedroom curtains) show up to some dinky old barn covered with balloons, and—suddenly—turn out to be an entire class of professionally trained dancers?

Well for NYC private schools, proms are held at swanky downtown hotspots, with extravagant decorations, elaborate themes and everything but Kevin Bacon in an ugly maroon suit.

Even in this Bond-saturated season, the Trinity School in Manhattan may be unique in employing the Bond theme for both its spring benefit in March, held at Skylight Studios in SoHo, and for its senior prom on May 29.

In a cost-cutting move, the decorations from the benefit, including pin-spotted disco lights and oversize martini glasses filled with M&M???s embossed with ???007??? and ???A Time to Bond,??? will be recycled for the prom. The only difference: the blue martinis (the school color) served to parents will be missing the alcohol at the student party at the Tribeca Rooftop. ???They???re having a mocktini bar,??? Ms. Silverman said.

Wow, “M&M martinis embossed with ‘007′ and ‘A Time to Bond?’” It’s just like an episode of My Super Sweet Sixteen, except—knowing NYC prep schoolers—the “mocktinis” will doubtless be followed by Bellinis at Bungalow, and a late-night (coke-fueled) limo ride to some chick’s country house.

But enjoy your decadent, over-the-top Bond-inspired gala, Trinity. Oh, and if you were trying to make us throw up a little bit in our mouths?

Mission Accomplished.
